Combining two words from my list I managed to choose two names that I like the sound of, although I am quite interested in using a single word. Just 'Bass' or just 'Vibe'.
Here are the designs with the name Unique House and Unique Bass.
I aimed very much like Q magazine to keep my magazine name short, one or two words.
I decided that i really liked Unique Bass, however i think that is too long and so i may shortern it to UB which stands for Unique Bass as the bass within house music is a the main key element and has the most importance in the tracks.
My magazine would be priced at £2.00. It would be a monthly magazine and have 40 pages.
I believe that my magazine would be short and sweet, not fluffed out with a lot of text and useless information. I believe this would satistfy my target audience.
My chosen genre for my music magazine will be House music.
House music firstly is a style of electronic house music and is strongly influenced by elements of Soul and Funk-infused varieties of Disco music.
House music originated from Chicago, Illinois, USA in the early 1980's.
To begin with it was seen as hugely different from other styles of music until it fell into the mainstream Pop and Dance music charts and became immensely popular worldwide in 1990.
This type of music is famous for it's unique sound of which the elements are;
Prominent Bass Drum
Prominent Synthesiser Baseline
Electro Drums
Electro Effects
Reverb and Delay enhanced vocals
All this together creates something that is not already placed within another genre. 2010 has been a big year for house music in the UK with 'Swedish House Mafia' entering the charts at number one countless times.
Here is the video of their single 'One' that took the country by storm this year.
I have chosen this genre because I feel like I fit currently fit into the target audience of house music and lately it has become an essential to have on your iPod in the UK. By being in the right target audience I can not only look at what is currently begin published in this sector by the professionals but also get the chance to add some first hand audience touches to my magazine. This gives me a audience point of view and with that in mind a publisher point of view also. What they are publishing, and what we would actually liked to also be published.
At the moment IDJ Published by Zero-g and MixMag published by Development Hell are publishing magazines that do cover some house style music. However also incorporate Techno, Electro and Dance. I aim to make my magazine specific to House style music.

Bold Title - (CONTENTS)
Magazine Logo - page 1 Top Right, page 2, Top Left.
Page numbers - to show which page contains what content.
I really like how the contents page numbers are located on some of the images, this shows that what is featured in this image is featured in more detail on that page. The page number font and the title font are the same. This shows consistancy, that the main and most important texts are in the same eye catching font.
Pictures - to demonstrate examples of content. Used as an alternative to writing 'Dance Music Page.' They instead have used a picture of two girls dancing, the lighting indicates a club and party atmosphere. By using the picture they are using representation.
"A picture captures a thousand words."
Subscriptions - to attract the audience to the offers in that magazine, page 2.
Regulars - Headers that are featured monthly on the contents page of this sperfic magazine
VIP
Features
Fashion
Tunes
Tech
Don't Stay In
These are all relative to the magazine genre and are appropriate to be featured within this magazine. The headers must be something that can be used month after month. Meaning a heading for one month could not be
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS, because the following month this would be irrelevant. I will make sure that the subheadings i chose to use for my magazine would be relevant from month to month.
Page Layout - The layout must be easily understood yet it cannot be boring. It must attract the audience to read it and yet not give away too much of the actually content, ruining the articles used. A good balence of these 2 aspects must be made to create the right layout for a contents page.
