Analyzing Example Cover & Contents Page

Below are the pictures of the East Riding College example provided for us. I have decided to analyze their appearance and effectiveness.

At a first glance, the front cover strikes me as dull. However the Mast Head is clear and easily read. The logo is destinctive and the cover does serve it's purpose. However I will aim to make my cover more colourful and eye catching. The image used in the front cover is unique however it features very sultry tones of colour and not vibrate colours, possibly making the cover less attractive to some people.

The contents page is clearly labeled with page numbers, and features some images of what will be metioned within the magazine. This is slightly more colourful and yet still achieves a simple layout. There is room for improvement, for example the student could have feathers the edges of the images instead of adding a border. Or perhaps used one image as the main background. I think the text is clear and of appropriate size, however when comparing this page to the cover I think that the student should maybe have tried to use the same font for titles throughout. I think they also should have included some green onto the cover because the green is not shown on all pages as a colour scheme.
